Welcome back to Ask Velvet Podcast. Today I want to talk about the Spurs versus Knicks game and all the chaos that surrounded it before the opening tip-off ever happened. This wasn't just about basketball. This was about frustrated fans, street closures, security fences, long lines, and a city that seemed completely turned upside down for one game. Fans were already irritated before they even got near Madison Square Garden. Streets were blocked off, security was tight, fences were everywhere, and many people who wanted to be part of the atmosphere couldn't even enjoy the watch parties they were expecting outside the arena. For a lot of fans, that set the mood for the entire night. What bothered me most was how the fans who couldn't afford tickets seemed to be treated. Those people are some of the most loyal fans you'll ever find. They support the team all season long. They buy merchandise, watch every game, and cheer just as hard as the people sitting courtside. I'm not saying the people who bought tickets aren't real fans, but the fans outside matter too. And many of them felt pushed aside. Adding to all the drama was the attendance of President Trump. Now, President Trump isn't exactly known as a diehard Knicks fan, but he showed up to one of the biggest games of the season. During the national anthem, reports and videos showed mixed reactions from the crowd. Some people cheered, some people booed, and the reaction quickly became one of the major storylines of the night. Meanwhile, former President Obama and Michelle Obama received a much warmer reception from the crowd. The contrast between the reactions was impossible to ignore. And you know people were talking about it throughout the arena and all over social media. But once the game started, I have to admit, it was a great game. I watched the entire thing. The energy was incredible. The players competed hard, and for a while it looked like either team could win. Still, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Call it superstition, call it coincidence, call it whatever you want. But I had a feeling the Knicks were going to lose the moment President Trump showed up. Maybe it was the tension surrounding the event, maybe it was all the distractions, maybe it was just bad luck. And then came the moment that really made me laugh. After all the street closures, all the security measures, all the fences, all the inconvenience for fans. There were reports and social media discussions suggesting that President Trump appeared to doze off during portions of the game. Now think about that for a second. The city goes through all this trouble. Fans deal with all this distraction. Madison Square Garden becomes a fortress. And after all of that, the guy at the center of the security operation looks like he might be taking a nap. If that's true, that's almost unbelievable. You mean to tell me all this chaos happened so you could get some sleep? Come on now. In the end, the Knicks lost the game. It was disappointing for the fans. But the series isn't over. They still have another opportunity to bounce back and keep fighting. As for me, I'm still convinced there was some bad juju in the building that night. Maybe it was the tension, maybe it was the distractions, maybe it was everything that happened outside the arena before the game even started. Whatever it was, the vibes just didn't feel right. The good news for Nick's fan is that one loss doesn't end a season. There are still games to be played, adjustments to be made, and opportunities to turn things around. We'll see what happens next. But one thing is certain people are going to be talking about everything surrounding this game for a long time. Not just what happened on the court, but all the shenanigans that happened off of it as well. Thanks for listening, and I'll catch you on the next episode.
