Welcome back everyone to Ask Velvet Podcast. Today I want to talk about someone who has always held a very special place in my heart. Prince. Now if you know me, then you know I am a huge Prince fan. I love his music, his creativity, his style, and the way he was never afraid to be himself. What makes Prince even more special to me is that we share the same birthday, June seventh. We were born thirteen years apart, but I've always felt a connection to him. Maybe it's because we're both Gemini's, maybe it's because we're both creative in our own ways. Whatever the reason, I've always felt inspired by him. As I celebrate another birthday, I also want to celebrate the life, legacy, and impact of an artist whose music has meant so much to me throughout the years. One thing I've always admired about Prince was his creativity. He wasn't interested in fitting into a box. He created his own lane and followed his own vision. He was unapologetically himself. And I think that's one of the reasons so many people connected with him. As a creative person myself, I understand the importance of expressing who you are. I may not create music like Prince did, but I know what it's like to have dreams, ideas, and a desire to share something meaningful with the world. I remember the day I heard the news that Prince had passed away. At first, I didn't believe it. It didn't seem possible. Prince was one of those artists who felt larger than life. But when it finally sank in that he was really gone, I cried. I sat down and let the tears come. I had never met him personally, but I felt a genuine loss. His music had been a part of my life for so long that it felt like losing someone I had known. That's the power of music. Great artists become part of our lives. Their songs are there during our celebrations, our heartbreaks, our victories and our struggles. Through his music, Prince touched millions of people, and I am one of them. Every year on June seventh, I celebrate my birthday, but I also take time to celebrate Prince's birthday. I listen to his music, reflect on his legacy, and give thanks for another year of life. And there's something else I want to share. One of my biggest birthday wishes, goals, and dreams is to one day visit Paisley Park on my birthday and celebrate Prince's birthday there as well. I don't know exactly which year it's going to happen, but I know it's something I want to do. To be able to stand in a place where so much creativity was born, where so much music was created, and where Prince left such an incredible legacy would be a dream come true for me. I think it would be one of the most meaningful birthday celebrations I could ever have. Until that day comes, I will continue celebrating in my own way, with Princess Music playing, gratitude in my heart, and appreciation for another year of life. As I wrap up this episode, I want to say happy birthday to Prince and also to my granddaughter, and of course to me. Birthdays give us an opportunity to reflect on where we've been, where we are, and where we're going. They remind us that every year is a gift and every day is another chance to become the person we're meant to be. Prince taught us many things through his music, but one of the greatest lessons was the importance of being yourself. He lived his truth, he followed his vision, he embraced his creativity without apology. I think that's a lesson all of us can take with us. Live your truth, live your dream. Don't be afraid to be who you are. Don't be afraid to chase the goals that matter to you, even if they take years to achieve. Whether your dream is starting a business, writing a book, launching a podcast, traveling somewhere you've always wanted to go, or simply becoming a better version of yourself. Keep moving toward it. Life is too short to spend it trying to beat someone else. Be authentic, be creative, be fearless, and most importantly, believe in yourself. Thank you for listening to this special birthday episode. I hope you take a moment today to celebrate your own dreams, your own journey, and your own purpose. Until next time, keep living your truth, keep chasing your dreams, and never stop believing that your best days are still ahead of you.
