Welcome to Ask Velvet. Now let me tell you something. Sometimes it's not that you don't want to go, it's that you already know what comes with going. And last night the commanders had their big draft party at Northwest Stadium. I could have gone. I really could have. But that one mile hill Oh no no no no no. If you've ever walked that hill, you already know. It'll have you questioning your life choices halfway up. That hill is not for the weak, and last night I chose peace. Now don't get me wrong, I love a good event. I love the energy, the crowd, the excitement. And after watching videos from last night all over social media, I could tell everybody had an amazing time. The vibe looked right, the crowd was into it, and honestly, it looked like it would have been a great experience to be part of. But here's the thing. You've got to think about the full experience, not just the moment, because getting there is one thing. Getting back home is a whole different story. Let's talk about it. Uber and left around that stadium, a nightmare. I learned that the hard way. Those drivers will sit right there in the parking lot, just waiting, watching those prices climb. And if you're not willing to pay what they're asking, you're stuck. Just stuck. And that's the frustrating part because you want to enjoy yourself without already stressing about how you're going to get home. You don't want to feel like you've got to fight your way out of there or overpaid just to make it back safely. Then your only option becomes walking back down that same hill. This time tired, probably late at night, just trying to make it to the metro. It turns into a whole situation. What was supposed to be a fun night suddenly becomes a stressful exit plan. And yeah, watching those videos, I'll be honest, it did look like fun. It looked like I missed out on a good time. But at the same time, I had to make a smart choice for me. Because I already know what comes after the fun. And sometimes that part just isn't worth it. Now I'm not saying I'm never going to another game. Because I will. I'm definitely going to go again. I just need to figure out a better solution for getting home. Something that doesn't leave me stressed, stuck, or overpaying. That's all it is. At the end of the day, sometimes the best decision is choosing comfort, choosing ease, and knowing your limits. Because peace of mind that's priceless. So whether you were out there at the stadium enjoying every moment or you were at home watching it all unfold like me, just remember it's okay to sit some things out when the hassle outweighs the hype. This is Ask Velvet, and I'll catch you next time.
